Sustainability
MADE IN NORTH AMERICA
All BIKO jewelry is designed by Founder & Designer Corrine Anestopoulos and ethically handcrafted in small batches by local artisans & family-run small businesses. Our manufacturing takes place in our home city of Toronto, although some of our chains are made in the USA.
MATERIALS & WASTE
40% of all BIKO jewelry is made of recycled metals & components. Since our inception in 2005, we've saved hundreds of thousands of components from ending up in the landfill. All new metals used are conflict-free. We are diligent about not overproducing our collections, and melt down & repurpose all metals that are in abundance during the production process.
OUR WARRANTY
At BIKO, sustainability begins with longevity. We design and handcraft intentional, heirloom-quality jewelry meant to be worn often and kept for years to come. Our five-year warranty reflects our commitment to quality, while our repair, polishing, and replating services help extend the life of your pieces well beyond the warranty period. Caring for what we create is an essential part of reducing waste and encouraging more mindful consumption. Visit our warranty page for more information.
PACKAGING
Each BIKO piece comes with it's own branded BIKO pouch. Made with repurposing in mind, this pouch not only keeps your jewels safely stored - it serves as a polishing cloth as well as a travel pouch to keep your pieces in mint condition, wherever your journey may take you.
Our shipping packaging is plastic-free, recyclable and reusable. To be mindful of not over-packaging our goods, we only offer branded BIKO boxes upon request.
SHIPPING
We ship local orders with bicycle courier when possible.
RESPONSIBILITY
We aim to create consciously, produce ethically and practice responsible processes. Sourcing and producing as close to home as possible, being committed to the longevity of our products and taking a conscious materials & packaging approach is just the beginning. BIKO is committed to minimizing and improving our environmental impact and carbon footprint. We’re not perfect but we are continuously evaluating our practices and working towards being better.
GIVING BACK
BIKO believes in supporting the most vulnerable in our communities. Through ongoing fundraising initiatives, we proudly raise funds to support organizations such as Climate Action Network, Second Harvest, Sistering, Black Lives Matter, Black Health Alliance, and the Marsha P. Johnson Institute. Since 2018, we have partnered yearly with Rethink Breast Cancer: 20% of BIKO's October sales are donated to Rethink, striving to benefit the lives of women living with breast cancer.
